    16G 8cm Kinugawa on 10mm pump

    Whats everyone's thoughts on the above combo? 8cm okay or need to go for the 6cm, I would like to have the option to upgrade the pump in the future.

    If your plan is to build a bigger pump then I would buy the turbo to suit your plans. 16g isn't ridiculous anyway, may be a bit slower to spool on a standard pump but I think it would be okay while you put some more $ in the piggy bank. Imo.

    Probably cook the turbo if you run out a fuel from the pump...just don't wind the boost up too much with the standard 10mm feed...and intercool for lower temps again...running lean on a decent sized snail will cost ya.

    I think what he's saying is only run it at a boost level your fuel pump can support or you'll start to lean things out and your egt's will be too high.

    My understanding is that for throttle response you want the smallest turbo that will safely cover your peak horsepower. You're going a bigger turbine than you need, so you'll probably see a slight drop in throttle response (turbo lag) but as long as you run the peak boost to suit your fuel it'll work fine. Just not ideal in the short term. Watch your egt's.

    It depends a bit on what you want in future too. You're better off planning in hp than in pump plunger size. I.e. If you're only shooting for a peak of 200hp maybe you don't even need a 16g turbo in future. Don't think in terms of plunger size(10, 11, 12mm) as they apparently all operate the same, just that each can be built up to more hp respectively.

    If you're aiming for over 200hp you'll need at least a 16g turbo or you just won't have enough air.

    It's all a bit more complicated than that and I'm furthest from an expert but If you really want to turbo now, fuel pump later.. A 16g will be fine.

    Yeah...sorry...I have seen and read when you lean out the the fuel, something about being below 25:1 air fuel mix (when boosted air exceeds fuel supply) the EGTs can spike and cook the turbo...if there is no intercooler to catch the bits that break off the turbo the bits may even end up in the engine cylinders...pricey mistake.

    Running a diesel lean wont create high egt’s, lean diesels actually run lower egt’s. as for high egt’s damaging your turbo! You will melt pistons before that happens!!

    No! I said lean diesels run lower egt’s. As for that ht 18, the only good spot for that is in the bin!!

    well i can confirm that running boost lower ur EGT'S by alot.. and from my understanding ther is no problem to run diesel engine lean..my car runs chinese turbo(which is big) and i dont have problem going uphill with 5th gear(35" 4,11) at 2k rpm max egt 600 pre turbo..even if i try to push my car i cant get past 630celcius....
