Cool GU Patrol Cummins 6BT build vlog

    Hey folks

Pretty new to the whole YouTube thing but having a fair crack at it! If you like these build vlogs would love a like, sub, and a share to ya mates. 👌🔥

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFet4ZV4Tvo

This one is getting a 215hp out of a Dodge, shipped over from the 'states. Behind that will be a 4L80E built by wholesale auto

Will do a build vlog all on youtube at the link above if you're interested in following, but also might post tidbits and stuff here For example... had a 'real' first start vid, then decided to clean up a bit and do it again for the real video. I put the original clip up on my other channel here:

Hopefully it will be ok. A friend has a 6BT with much the same power output in his OKA (Approx 6 tonnes) & originally put a 4L80E behind it, but it let him down badly in the middle of the Simpson. He reckons it wasn't up to handling the power & now has an Allison.

215HP is stock, which produces about 600Nm of torque. Not actually much power really given the size of the engine. I'd be very surprised if any reasonably built 4L80E couldn't handle that... Heat is a major killer of auto boxes, you would have seen that in my video above where the lip seals on a piston had melted and failed causing a pressure loss and leading the clutches to slip and be destroyed. In an OKA travelling through sand I could easily see transmission cooling being an issue. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cause for your mate. Do you know what failed in his 4L80?

Latest vid, in this one I'm tearing down the 6BT (not completely) to replace all the leaky gaskets and seals. Was great to see the condition of the internals and to know everything is put together properly

    Cheers

Your dribble is worse than mine @pittydaky2235………why don’t you start a thread at least half explaining what it is you’re proposing here in regards “advertisement” opportunities strewn across the whole Forum!
