Uhmm. Because thats what they do. Catch oil. Its doing its job.
Also what brand of catch can do you have? You shouldn't have any oil now in your intercooler. Unless the catch can is blocked, or full. As some of the proper cans, like the Mann & Hummel Provent type, have a by pass system so when the filter is blocked from oil, the vapours will simply bypass the can and go straight back into the air intake, instead of just blocking up and stopping the vapour flow.

I have to drain my catch can every 1500-2000kms.
If you have a good quality unit with replaceable filters, you should put a new filter in every 20,000kms or so.
