    1998 GU TB45 Radiator sensors

Just wondering if someone with a GU TB45 engine could check whether they have a sensor fitted to the driver’s side bottom radiator tank, and if this sensor is connected to the main wiring loom.

I had the original radiator replaced several years ago by a local shop, and only recently when replacing the bottom radiator hose, noticed the replacement radiator had a sensor fitted to the driver’s side of the bottom tank with a short length of wiring ending in the female half of a connector, with no wiring in the vicinity to connect to. Could be a fitment for another model? Many thanks,

    Had a look mate.

I'm running a cheap aftermarket unit have had it for a few years now. Looks like a drain plug same as the one on the other side. I don't ever recall seeing any wiring loom around that area while it's been out.

Maybe someone has fitted a temp sensor..

    Hi jay see,
Thanks for taking the trouble. I suspected that the sensor was superfluous, as have never had overheating issues or A/C problems. It’s small details like these that the aftermarket manuals fall short on. It is probably covered in the genuine Nissan manual, but when I bought the vehicle secondhand in 2000, they wanted about $700 for one! Thanks again,

There’s no reason for a TB45E to have a temp sensor in the radiator. The overheat switching of the electric fan and the overheat A/C cutout are all controlled by the ECU which reads the temp sensor next to the gauge temp sensor on the thermostat housing.
