In 2020 what is the best oil for a Gq ?

I have a 92 Gq waggon Td42 turbo, I done a search and nothing came up the two most commented on oils are the Delo400 and the Shell Rimular X are they still the best or is there something else on the horzion , I like what I have read about the Delo400 but $103 for ten ltrs is a bit much for me so I was considering the Rimular X, I have been using Valvoline Nexgen but the engine seems a bit noisy especially the tappets and that is about $ 135 for 20 ltrs

Wait until Repco has specials on Castrol RX Super 20L drums. I got the last one for $80 I think it was. Bloody cheap.

Mudski, I asked the question a few months ago but never got a definitive answer. I have a GU IV 4.2 and have been running rx super the last few years. It wasn’t until my last service that I noticed that rx super is actually Jaso DH2 where as Nissan specify DH1. Do you think that there’s any issues with this?

I used Delo until I began having trouble finding it.
Then I started using RX. She's been purring happily ever after ...
Like mudski said keep an ear out for Repco . Every now and then they chuck it on super specials.

Hi mate. If you want a definitive answer, use what Nissan say.

But. DH1 is an old standard what oil companies had to meet, for anti corrosion and anti wear properties. DH2 is the current standard. Hope this helps mate. I used to be a Castrol distributor back in the day when RX Super was the only 15W/40 Diesel engine oil out there. Yes many moons ago. Then came along Jmax, for the Jap truck and TurboMax for the european trucks, Scania's, Volvo's etc. Now its all changed.

Edit : If you want the absolute best for a TD42. You won't get an answer. Everyones choices are different, and/ or slightly biased. I've been a Castrol man since my inception. So thats what I use.

Well I needed the oil right now and I was pretty happy the with my trade discount card that I got the 20 ltr drum for a $105 right now that is 25% off, I will try and wait for the big Supercheap 30% off sales I don't think that Repco can beat that.

    Did you buy at Repco?

No trade discount to buy at $105 on their sale promotion sent out about 6.00pm today. I think you have been able to buy at the best price at the moment.
But as the oil price has been going south ...…

At the end of the day you are happy, got it at a good price, they are happy made a sale. The world goes round.

    Cheers Trevor
