Very frustrated today, yesterday i got my patrol back from the mechanic. They fitted a recon 2.8 engine, recon injector pump and recon injectors. It took one month to complete ( not the mechanics fault ) Once fitted the engine started up and reved nicely but would not idle smoothly. After contacting the fuel pump supplier they suggested faulty cam angle sensor or a wire not correctly wired? ten hours

(labour )later still no good!!! So they trucked it to the pump man who fitted another pump, now it runs well?? So back to the mechanic, all fixed? As i drove home i immediatley noticed a lot of black smoke on acceleration and to top it off a ticking from the engine. Could be a valve lifter or maybe a piston pin?? The engine mob have given the mechanic the go ahead to strip it down and find the problem at there expence. Mechanic says that the smoke may clear as the engine ''beds in'' ? in about 500 - 1000 k's. (Plenty of time to get defected) i'm not so sure? I think it's the fuel pump. They don't want to know but maybe consumer affairs will convince them? Ok, now thats off my chest i'm going to have a nice whisky on the rocks and try to forget it till monday. That's why i'm P#$%#d OFF!!!!
