Unhappy @@@ help ### 3lt td auto 2003 loses power

I'm sure i'll get an answer here....why is my 2003 GU losing power after about an hour of city driving , it then blows a little smoke ,loses power , i then have to back off or pull over and then it comes good all of a sudden....i took it to Nissan for a service , told them of the problem , they plugged their computer into it and it said there was a turbo boost sensor error code . They said this is the problem for sure , so i said ok fix it ,$500 later on top of the the normal service its still doing the same ....could it be anything else , maybe the turbo or these EGR valve thingamigigys that i have read about , overall it a good unit but i dont want to go on a trip and be left stranded some where.....also does anyone know a good mechanic in the eastern suburbs of Melb....

    thanks

G'day Peter, hopefully someone can help you with this as I personally dont know the answer but Andy mentioned a guy in bayswater called Terry @ Hi-Tech Dyno Tuning. Here's the thread, go to the very end of the posts and the details are there. I used this guy back about 10 years ago and he got my fj55 all ready for a mission up north to the cape, magnetic island and pretty much everywhere for 2 years and honest to god had not one mechanical error.

He does charge a bit more then the average mechanic not much roughly 10% but he does know his stuff. Obviously I can't promise anything but he would be a good choice for a problem like this. Maybe someone else can offer someone who specialises in Patrol's but I can promise this guy does a good job and is very very knowledgable.

Pete I would probably look at checking your MAF Sensor just in case its gone faulty and remove it and clean with CRC Maf sensor cleaner.
When you reinstall it you will need to disconnect your battery for an hour so the ECU can relearn the Maf settings.

When they get build up on them they can give you all sorts of problems ,1 being loss of power and causing over boost spikes with the dreaded limp mode fault.
At the very worst you could be overfueling your engine and risk doing damage if you continue to drive it hard.

Give it a clean and hopefully It should drive like new again....
    cheers
