Just want to know if anyone has had any temp gauge issues
I recently rebuilt the engine in my 2004 gu 3.0 turbo diesel was ok for a couple of weeks then the temp went up to 3/4 mark but the engine was not overheating so I changed the sender unit was ok for 3 weeks now it’s doing it again the engine does not appear to be overheating if tap the dash it moves up and down
Has anyone got any suggestions
It could be a bad earth, what I did on my 04 3ltr Di was
to fit an inline sender in the top hose to a 52mm guage I have
on a binnicle on top of the dash. That plus I have an Ecu-Talk
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
My old 3ltr used to do the same thing. It was a 2003 or 2004 (can’t remember), series 3.
It used to drive me insane!
I ended up pulling the whole tacho system out to see if I could fix it myself as every auto elec I went to seemed to not be interested in fixing it.
While I had the tacho out if I wiggled the wires it’d go back to normal but as soon as I put it all back together it did the same thing. From looking behind the dash I realised it’d be too hard for me to work out how to fix it properly. I’d bash the dash and sometimes it’d come good for an hour or so.
Best thing I did and that I’d recommend it buy an ecu talk. Then you can read the coolant temp plus heaps of other things and it’s not permanent like a pillar gauge. Much easier and much better value for money.
