93 GQ injector pump inlet banjo / filter

    Hi
After reading through a few post I decided to take a look at my injector pump filter.
    TD42.
It has a large head banjo with a 10mm hex bleed type bolt in the top of it and a long plastic looking filter inside the bolt.
What really surprized me was that the fuel hole through the side of the bolt was only about 5-10 thou diameter.
    The filter was blocked badly.
Is this small fuel hole normal??

Hole size is normal and throw out the gauze filter.

I see that the filter is retained in the bolt with 3 crimps at the thread end.
Should I drill them out to get the filter out?
