    Rooftop tent lifting mechanism

Need to come up with an idea as I don't want it on permanetly well not yet anyway. I won't be able to get the Patrol in the garage and it's not something that will be used all that much at the moment. Probably the main reason is for an upcoming week long traveling trip through the high country with some old friends. After that I reckon once or twice a year for a few more years. I have a Instant Up tent which I don't really want to be putting up and put in down after every night.

Soo, searching around a little bit I will need some sort of hoist. Something like a engine crane that goes to the roof. there's a tow bar hitch crane which is good to get things into a tray but not to the roof, maybe something with an extendable arm. @threedogs you might be on to something with that spare tyre lifter thing that you done little while back.

Mounting it up to the ceiling and driving under is not an option because once it's on I won't get the car back out.

Where are all you smart people..

I had the same issue. Ended up raising the car part roof for my patrol and roof top tent (I know it’s not a garage , but we poor). So next buy will be a Fredlin hoist to get it of the patrol and store it

My issue is I can't raise the garage and it just fits in the garage without a tent on it.

    What about this.

Two A frames, one each side, bar across joining the two and a cheap wireless winch. Unbolt it, it packs flat and shouldn't be too heavy to move.

Yeah, seen something like that on YouTube. Something like an old swing set.

Should be able to get some steel from work. Thanks @10G that got the ball rolling.

Hey I helped someone, no worries. I was thinking, if you have a tree with a nice big branch you may even be able to hang the winch off that???
