Meet da Mav!
Hi folks, just thought I’d chuck a “diary” of my latest purchase.
Been wanting to get into 4x4-ing for best part of 2019 and I’ve finally pulled the trigger. She’s 1989 DA Maverick in Blue over Grey, TB42 Straight petrol manual, not much else to say.
It’s the first car I’ve bought (I’ve bought somewhere in region of 20 cars over the years) without stereo system which suits me seeing I’m Deaf so if my passengers want some racket, I could plonk a set of muddies and drive it on black top. Oh and I’ve got a CB radio but no antenna anywhere lol.
Now to gather parts in preparation for roadworthy, I’ve complied a following list here;
- Windscreen and rubbers.
- Tyres. - Bought and probably need to buy skinnier wheel/tyre combo.
- Steering wheel column cover. - Bought
- Grill (more the bit where it slides in radiator support). - Had a look, probably buy some clips and plonk it in.
- Swivel hubs, Will try to get lokka while I’m at it. - Bought swivel hub rebuild kit with kingpin bearings, hopefully I'll have Lokka on my hands tonight.
- Steering wheel, very twist...
- Flares, I’m more inclined to get some sort of rubber from Clark rubber and make flares and mud flaps in one.
- Windscreen wipers - Will do while I'm getting windscreen replaced.
- Fix the door handle, doesn’t open on RHS rear.
There’s a picture, if I can figure how Tapatalk stuff.
Gonna chuck a set of 33’s, snorkel and maybe thicker rear swaybar and delete front swaybar for now and learn how to drive slow and tall car after many fast cars including 10x Skylines (including 4 GTR’s!) and others.
Do feel free to chuck up suggestions here.

Went and grabbed a set of Maxxis Bighorn in 33x12.5x15 for a song. Apparently 50% worn but looks like plenty by my eyes.

Think you better start a build thred of your own
then every one can follow your mods. not all look
at the intros. But we all love looking at pics of Patrols being modded

Bought few stuff I need for roady.
Chasing a bit to attach the grill to radiator support or just buy some sort of clips.
Once I have some rubber lokka, front swivel gaskets and bearing kit, then I’ll get greasy with a mate who is helping me.

So, I've been collecting bits and pieces and came to realisation that neither 31's I have and 33's I've bought would pass roadworthy - 31's might be too worn for roady folk and 33's are 1" wider along with destroyed flares so I have a question for y'all, have anyone fit wheels off say Hilux, Landcruiser, Triton, Pajero etc with 106mm centrebore on Patrol without "massaging" the hub or wheel itself?
Gonna try fitting wheels off Hilux this weekend.
Wish me luck, oh and I've bought swivel hub rebuild kit, front diff gasket and hopefully I'll have Lokka on my hands tonight and get greasy this weekend.

So I’ve bought Lokka with spare dowel pins the other day.
And went to mates place doing some spannering.
33’s fit in the back without too much trouble, haven’t got the chance to fit front as mate and I ran out of time today.
Oh and took the bullbar out. Chucked new brakes in the back, front will go in when we’re working it on next.
