GU 2001 Wagon Rain Leak Again Dammit

    G’day NP.com.au Team,

Hoping someone out there can kindly point us in the right direction for a pesky rain leak that has reared its head again on our 2001 family GU wagon.
It’s on its second windscreen now in under two years and I personally assisted the on-site installer earlier this year to ensure all surfaces were immaculate prior to fitting the last windscreen believing that was our issue.
It still may be the windscreen again but wondering if there is possibly any other known entry points to look at as it occurs even when parked up like last night with a flash flood that quickly barreled through our hills.
The leaking location is on the passengers side inner firewall and lightly trickles down from somewhere deep up under the front left corner.
Any pointers if known would be greatly appreciated as my neck is currently not appreciating trying to peer up under there like a contortionist.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Mark & Lu

Check/Replace the scrivets around the scuttle panel.

Usually one or two will get damaged when windscreens are replaced and not all tradies will replace them

If they leak the water that pools under the panel can run down the inside of the firewall
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

Not sure how we/he missed this, appears out of seven scrivets in total, one is completely missing and two are missing the center pins.

Should be a much easier than first thought fix, we can’t thank you enough ET!
We’re going to also save a fortune on air freshener dangling things :-)

    Hopefully you're onto it M B !
A while back when @mudski ran his parts biz , he put me onto these scrivets and to check for rust under the scutle ...
Best thing I ever did as one of mine was gone entirely .

Yeah when you lose the screws the tension is lost holding the scuttle panel down and then water gets in quite easily. You could even use some 6G screws if your desperate.

Picked these up yesterday, absolutely blown away at OEM prices here, they would want to be bloody good for $130 smackers in a rush purchase. @mudski mate, your good self and Rusty_Nail mate need to get back into business Blokes :-)

Sheds way too full of crap tonight and ironically the poor old family wagon is outside in the pissing rain now awaiting TLC :-(
