    Found on the Old Ghan Rail Line

    Found along the Old Ghan Rail line, these Kennicott water softeners present as a tower type of tank often still piped to a head tank previously used for filling loco water tanks.
    Treating loco boiler water enabled longer periods of in service before descaling..
    Substantial fuel savings occurred with scale free fire tubes.

    I worked on the Ghan line from Marla bore [pre road house] down to kingoonya
    the only thing I found was a huge Perenti front foot big as a mans hand swam in a few track
    side water tanks though very refreshing
    This is my 1850 header tank from a steam train in FNQ, hope to polish is one day

    Threedogs I dug the holes for the fuel tanks when Greg Oakley was living in the Atco with his Dad and the bloke who was Gregs co-owner but can't remember his name .I was with MacMahons .
