has anybody repaired a steering wheel loose plastic covering thought of injecting it with silastic or similar

Hello, and welcome to the forum. Please head over to the intro section and say G'day. Done a repair on a Corolla. I Cut a few holes on the inner side of the grips and injected a bit of silicon into each one and worked the rubber to spread the silicon around. I left it sit for a day then trimmed of the excess. I fitted a cover and it passed a RWC and lasted over 8 years.

Welcone mate. I got a cover off ebay, it comes pre-made as a ring you just put it on and stich it closed with the supplied gear. Didn't even bother repairing the holes..
Feels and looks great imo and cost virtually nothing. Much nicer than the bulky covers that slip over.
