Engine Rebuild 2006 Nissan Patrol Wagon ST Diesel Immaculate Condition

    Hi there,
I am new here and would like some advise on my vehicle.
I have a 2006 ST Diesel Nissan Patrol Wagon, immaculate condition. Its not a Common Rail either. It did 183,000klms.
To cut a long story short, something happen to the timing chain and
it ended up with metal through the engine. The mechanics don't want to touch it but have tried to find another engine for me because the
vehicle looks brand new. Just wondering on all your thoughts out there, what would the best thing for me to do with it, besides wrecking it and selling it for spare parts.
Basically its a immaculate vehicle with no engine.. Very disappointing..
    Regards

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

Can't remember what month Nissan stopped making the TD42 for Australia. If yours was built before that time, a TD conversion would be a very good option for you. Places Like Readies 4x4 in Bendigo, Vic specialize in the conversion.

There are plenty of threads on here with regard to your exact predicament.

Engine Rebuild 2006 Nissan Patrol Wagon ST Diesel Immaculate Condition

Tactically mate, balls & all go for an LS1,2 and or 3. Realistically an LS1 could end up much cheaper than a TD42 variant in this day and age although I would personally entrust in a diesel out back yonder before any other pettyrol :-)

EDIT: 2006 (early last of 2007) is it a TD42Ti worth rebuilding TT mate?

Very good question, Mark. I just assumed it would be a ZD. Also didn't know the TDs were still available into 2007.

I believe so Craig mate, there was only a small few plated as early 2007 but were no doubt manufactured in 2006 I think a guru on here wrote once.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. Shame about the engine. Where are you located?

If in Victoria we have a member here @rustynail who has a ZD30 in a GUIV that is a pretty fresh build. From the ground up. unfortunately it has recently been diagnosed with a Cracked head. It has not been hot and the bottom end would not have 20,000kms on it i dont think. Shattered for him. He is giving up on it and preparing for an LS Swap. He may well be interested in selling you his engine. Fit your good head to his good block and you will have a very fresh engine. His engine has a new turbo and fuel pump on it too i think.
    Its a Nissan! =====> Its a Keeper!! ....... Got a TD42 in it BONUS!! ....... I'm a lucky bugger! I've got 2 of em!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
