Welcome mate. Yep if you've blocked the egr best to disable all the vacuum operated bits especially that butterfly. In fact if you just disable the vacuum side of things you don't even need a plate. The egr valve just stays shut.
There's a bank of vacuum gates/switches on the driver's side near the firewall. These control everything for the egr. A quick fix is just to unplug the power tp these.
