If your picking up fuel from regular servos. The stock fuel filter is enough. OEM to aftermarket fuel filters will filter down to around 20 micron, brand depending. Which filters have you seen have mounts only available for the CRD motors?

G'day,
Thanks for the response.
It was a couple of Filter / Separator kits available from Western Filters.
I'm in FNQ and plan to do some touring once I have the beast properly setup for it.
As I'm currently bulletproofing the engine with; an HPD Intercooler, Transcooler, Catch Can,
3" Airbox mod, 3" Stainless exhaust, Redarc Boost & EGT + Oil Temp Gauge, Low Coolant Alarm and a Tillix Boost Controller, it makes sense to add a water separator and filter in case I take on any dodgy fuel.
Hence seeking advice on what others with the ZD30 DDti have used and are happy with.

Have you got a link to the kit from Western Filters? If its this one, that will be fine for your Di.

I sell these myself at work and they are a good kit. You get a spare filter in the pack also. 3 Micron is very fine and will catch pretty much anything.

Thanks for that, sorry for the slow reply. I don't have the link, but from memory I rang seeking clarification on one of the Fuel Manager setups for the Common Rail Patrol that came with a mounting bracket, and was told the Direct Injection suitable kit did not include a bracket. Might chase up the Donaldson though given the price. Tks again.

It must be one of their own kits they make up then. The Donaldson kits dont do model specified kits, you need to make up or mount the kit using your imagination. Which is a hard task on a Di, or CRD.

Patrol Freak
Not a CRD but I fitted the Fuel Manager 30 micron as a pre filter because they have a good reputation for separating water, etc. I also fitted the electronic option that lights up an LED in the dash if contamination detected.
That means less work for the main filter.
Hard to find a spot so I remade the washer bottle out of ally a bit smaller to make room between the battery and radiator.

Tidy fix!
Found the email and it was the Fuel Manager kit that comes with brackets for the CRD but not the DI.
I've ordered the Donaldson kit Mudski suggested, so I'll see how I go in a week or two when it shows up.

As an aside.....
Whilst my VIN plate states 11/2004, Nissan website claims 9/2004!
Given the Airflow Meters changed from the Rectangular hole type to the Round hole H009 type in October 2004,
my HPD High flow intake has of course shown up with the wrong airflow adaptor.
I should know better than expect anything to run smooth!
