    Starter Issue

    Hey all,

I recently did a tb42e to td42 swap on my GQ patrol and I am having some starter motor issues. I have the 'B' terminal wired directly to the battery, the 'M' terminal goes from the magnetic switch to the starter body, and the 'S' terminal goes to a black and yellow wire.

With the key off I see 12V on the B terminal and 9V on the S terminal which seems strange to me.
Then with the key trying to start I see the same but the S terminal goes to 11V.
I never see any voltage on the M terminal.

When I try and start it the magnetic switch gets very warm but no action from the starter at all.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

S should see 12v at start. Try feeding this with a direct 12v signal to test it. (jump it straight to B and it should fire).

If that fails hit it with a bigger hammer.

Seriously, have someone bash it with a hammer when you try start it.

Never mind I am a moron and had the wires attached incorrectly, glad I had a tb42 starter to have a look at as I was convinced I needed a new magnetic switch.
