    GQ buying advice

    G’day everyone,

Buying my first patrol in the next few weeks and after a bit of advice on what to expect for prices, given the range of different motors prices are obviously very inconsistent,

I’m keen on a 1990 GQ I’ve found, it’s a 4.2 turbo diesel with around 380,000km on it. It’s a tidy vehicle that seems to have been well looked after, also has bull bar, winch, dual batteries, driving lights, roof rack and awnings. It has also had all rust repaired and resprayed around the roof and gutters,

The only concern I have is that it’s over priced, the asking price is $11,500,

Obviously being factory 4.2 turbo in pretty good knick makes it’s fairly rare and jacks the price up but it just seems high considering there are early 4.2 turbo GU wagons around for not much dearer and they generally have suspensions upgrades as well,

I’ve heard some people say these a really rare now and worth a fortune and others say they’re not worth nearly as much as some people think, so keen to hear what everyone thinks?

    Cheers

They're worth only what you're willing to pay for them. A td42 in any variant (gu/gq) will always be priced a bit higher. I doubt you'd find a looked after factory GU td42 at the same k's for the same price though.

Post a proper introduction and ask your question again. There's a wealth of knowladge on here that'll be more likely to chime in if you follow the proper etiquette.

Hello and welcome to the forum. As O has posted you will find more members will be forthcoming with advice if you head on over to the introductions section and say g'day.http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...-Introductions

Check the rear spring towers to see if they have started to stretch upward toward the body. They tend to crack at the welds on the chassis. There are kits to rectify the problem.

If the second battery is mounted in the engine bay, look for cracking on the guard. Was the gutter repair done by professionals?

Thanks for the advice, sorry I’m new to forums so wasn’t aware of the etiquette. I’ll jump over to the intro section now,

    Cheers
