Legal and certified child restraint point with drawers installed for a GU
Seems like info is hard to come by for options to have child restraint points installed in a GU while having drawers installed similar to the Kings ones.
After much trawling online there were rumours of being able to install restraint points in the roof but not much info online so thought I’d chuck up a post.
You need to pop off the roof lining (no need to remove completely, just slide it to the front of the car) to show the rear support beams near the barn doors.
Closer look at the specific location used. It is double plated so plenty of strength.

You will need a magnetic pick up tool to make your life easy here. Place the dimpled washer from the large hole in the right of the pic in the above post. It should locate itself easily enough over the hole.
Then use the magnetic tool again to place the nut and spring washer. A small screw driver is your friend to keep them in place while you detach them from the magnet.
Start the bolt threading on by hand slowly till you can feel it grip the threads. Then get a spanner onto the nut through the same opening. Little tip to stuff a rag over the column that holds the tail light in case the spanner slips out of your hand.

Lastly slice a cut into the roof lining to allow this to go around the restraint point.
I used both the spacers that came in the kit to give me the height I wanted.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I know. Took me a while lol. Now I can finally fit the drawers in the Patrol. Just thought I’d document it while I was doing the install seeing as I struggled to find much info when I looked.
Cheers for the info though, got me chatting to engineers once I knew it could be done.

Just from Supercheap or the like mate. Make sure you talk to an engineer before you do the work. You just want to ensure they’re happy with you doing the work yourself. All engineers are different.

Hey Wackyrider
I am just putting in these tethering points in now. I take it your able to put 2 anchor points up the the carrer rail above the barn door right? One on the left hand side and the other on the right hand side?
You are right it's not easy to find information on anchor points. Even the baby stores that I've visited so don't have any information on where to go to install the points.
