RD28 GU 2.8TD custom mechanical injection pump

    Hello,

I saw a few months ago somewhere a thread about building a custom injection pump, it was GQ (Y60) pump with GU(Y61) rotor.
But I can't find it anymore(and I didn't save a link, I was sure I will never need it because of planned TD42 conversion).
I'm also not sure if it was on this forum or somewhere else.

Thread was well documented, also with pictures, I remember something needs to be machined.
There was written that pump with GU rotor can provide more fuel, that was the reason for building a custom pump.

If someone knows what I'm talking about, I will be very happy.
It will save time, and my bosch pumps specialist doesn't need to reinvent the wheel again

GU 2.8, with some issues(sometimes after start it idles little higher as normal and NO throttle response, need to start it again a few times. no fault codes logged), want to convert it to mechanical pump.

    Regards, Gregor

You actually dont convert the pump it self. Just slap on a mechanical pump from a gq and switch out the injectors

    Yes, it is right,
but GQ has 9mm rotor, and GU 11mm and can deliver more fuel.
I found now a similar youtube video:
