    G.U.2.8 to 4.2 conversion

    Can someone give me an idea of what is involved in a swap of this kind? I know the diff centres will need to change, but can i use the same gearbox for example? Will the exhaust bolt up easily etc.?

    Nope, bigger box required, different universals also I believe, same transfer case but different adapter flange, different clutch assy including slave.no doubt a heap of other stuff, probably radiator??, alternator different as 2.8 has the rocker cover mounted vac pump, would think the exhaust will be different as well. there are a few guys on here who have done it i am sure, do a search as well

    What about engine mounts they the same or need to be moved.?

    Engine mounts bigger and in different location, go from 2 bolt on 2.8 to 4 bolt, gearbox and transfer case stay the same I believe, but cross member moves down a hole or two from memory
