    WA - NSW Mid November.

    Hi all,

I'm looking at doing a trip from Perth to Sydney in November this year. I've got a wedding to attend there, so what I'm looking at is flying over and getting the truck transported over there beforehand. However, since I've never been to this area of the world before, I am in the stages of wondering whether this is a viable option for me.

Other than, the servicing of the truck, is there anything that anyone could recommend as a must do if I were to undertake this trip (thinking long-range fuel tank, AM CB, second spare tyre etc).

I've done my research so far and I think I've got the basics down, but I thought I should branch my planning out now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mate, my advice would be to drive the trip both ways. You won't need long range tanks, a UHF or a second spare if you're sticking to the highways. Make the time to do the trip both ways if you can and if you like road trips. For me road trips are absolutely the best! Transporting one way will be far more expensive than fuel costs. So if you've got the time do the drive.and experience the towns and sights along the way. The Nullarbor is described as a boring trip only by people without eyes. I bloody love it. Do some reading before you go and see the good shit most people drive right past.

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??

I do love a good road trip. However, I'd only have around 6 days to get from Sydney to Perth, I'm not sure if thats a rush or not?

On my way home I was planning to do it in around 8-10 days. Is that even enough time? Or should I just fly and do it another time?

Should be more than enough time mate, I've done it in the days including sitting on the side of the road for 6 hours when the fuel pump over heated. Nullarbor town is expensive try to carry enough fuel to get you from Port Augusta to Norseman, all the servos between there were extremely dear.

Yeah 6 days will be enough but the 10 days home will be much better to see more things.

    Perth - Kalgoorlie 590km
    Kalgoorlie - Cocklebiddy 620km
    Cocklebiddy - Penong 690km
    Penong - Peterborough 670km
    Peterborough - Hay 715km
    Hay - Sydney 720km

Just off the top of my head:
    Cocklebiddy Cave
    Eyre Bird Observatory
    Middini Beach
    Nullarbor cliffs
    Head of the Bight
    Gawler Ranges
    Pildappa Rock
    Murray River

    https://www.kalgoorlietourism.com/im...-Guide2015.pdf

Go and buy yourself a book like this one. It's full of great info of things to see and do across the Nullarbor.

    Drive Syd to Adelaide,
Car on the Indian Pacific Motorail for Adel to Perth,
you fly Adel to Perth get on the turps for a couple of days with the pre wedding celebs and,
Drive Perth to Sydney at your leisure for the 10 days after the wedding.

Adel/Perth Motorail is $900 (unaccompanied) and you can leave the Car packed up to window level with luggage, camping gear etc on the train unlike on a truck.
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

So I'm now going to a do similar trip up to Uluru. It'll be around 6500km in total.

Where I'm stuck on is what spares to take. I'm being told everything from the basics right through to CVs, hubs, wheel bearings etc.

Given that I'm rather a novice when it comes to the mechanical aspects of cars, can anyone offer any assistance in my trip prep?

I've got a service on Thursday in which I've asked of them to do an in-depth pre-trip check, but I'm still a little concerned.
