Johnson's water pump upgrade
Just wondering if anyone has upgraded the water pump in their td42.
Mine gets hot when going up big hills on hot days (fully loaded with 5 people and roof rack etc)
If you go a bit easier and cruise up in 3rd it's ok but doesn't like foot to the floor in 4th or 5th trying to maintain speed.
Johnson's performance center has a pump that flows 40% better than standard and apparently pretty much solves the issue and just want to know everyone's thoughts.
Thanks in advance for any advice

That pump won't help you, you are far better off using a better fan. UFI are using a pajero fan and hub which seems to work by all accounts.
Qikazz 4x4 in Pakenham have a similar product at a much lower price too.

No worries.. I thought about the fan upgrade but surely doing 60+km/h produces more air flow than the fan ever could

Nah not true. Those fans move an absolute crap load of air, I haven't got one but it's on the list. I figure winter is nearly here so I have 6 months to get ready for it haha. @AB is running one on his gq and has had some pretty awesome results.

Would the twin EA ford fans be of help.
you need to keep the foam around the radiator in place
so it draws air the right way
OOI what radiator do you have??

Have you tried playing around with the viscous hub oil levels? Cheapest place to start first. Under $20 for a few bottles from toyota. Makes the hub lock up little bit sooner. @mudski is a master at this.
I have a JPC pump on my TD. I got it put on while my cooling system got overhauled, even though I never had overheating problems.
The JPC pump didn't lower my temps overall. However , where I found the difference was , that the temperatures recover much quicker after the motor gets pushed.
What DID lower my temps, was adding oil (as I mentioned above) to my viscous hub after also installing a G35 fan. This combination considerably improved my temperatures.
AGAIN, this was my experience, while never having any overheating issues in the first place.

JPC's pump is not the silver bullet for TD overheating issues. But it will certainly help.
