Recommendation for a Pre-Purchase Inspection Service in Melbourne
Hi Everyone,
Im new to Melbourne, 4wdriving and to this fabulous forum.
Im looking to purchase a 2002 Nissan Patrol 3.0 litre Diesel 5sp Manual. As such, Im looking for Recommendations for a Pre-Purchase Inspection Service in Melbourne northern metro area. Can anyone here offer any advice or help on who they have used and found to be very good.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Patrol Freak
The RACV used to do them when I was living in Melbourne.
As I lay there looking up, taking in the spectacular view that was the night sky and the multitude of stars I asked myself, where did my tent go?

I had an RACV pre purchase inspection done on my car. It was paid for by the Car Yard, so not sure if the same as if paid for by the buyer. It was very thin on detail, but had a big warning about gearbox noise with query 'bearing problems'. This almost scared me off, but instead I arranged to get an inspection done by Total Traction Drivelines, a 4wd transmission specialist. (Not Northern Suburbs though). Best $200 (2011) I've ever spent . They went through the whole car & gave me an excellent detailed report, not just a 'tick the box type that I'd had from RACV. They laughed & reckoned that the RACV tester must have been unfamiliar with Patrols, the only noise was normal, & the transmission all in excellent condition. The list of things found gave me leverage to get the car yard to fix a few things (eg. leaking fuel tank swapped out) & to get almost $3k knocked off the asking price.
