    Gu patrol 4th an 5th Gear Whinning noise

    Hey everyone Just 2anting to no if anyone has experienced 4th an 5th gear whinning noise under acceleration Goes away as soon as foots Off the pedal

    If it was a gear cluster bearing, it would whine in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and fifth, but not fourth. What model, what year,what engine?

    A lot of Patrol gearboxes require a GL4 oil instead of a GL5.

    Some early GU's are renowned for a weak 5th gear. I don't know what year range this belongs to. I think there was a upgrade released.

    Those manual gearboxes are strong as Even the pre 2002 with shorter splines for 5th.

    Check elsewhere. Personally i dont think its the box. Check diff fluids and transfer case too
