So in a nutshell, this actuator mimics what the needle and dawes valves do by getting rid of vacuum control and simply uses boost as a reference.

I had a "similar" thing fitted to my CRD by means of a external wastegate and completely removing vacuum control and getting rid of needle and dawes valves, and it actually worked well.

It’s in and running. Seems ok so far. Will get onto the open road and see how it is at 110Kph tomorrow. It’s beer o’clock now.

Boost comes on much sooner. Better mid range torque. A good result I think.

Have one with spring set at 23psi sitting on shelf in shed. Used when first fitted h/f turbo and found from the veins being closed at start of spool up, boost came on early, especially low down and lug well. Removed it as I prefer to be able to slow spool rate (be less aggressive) in the bush when going gets rough. With needle valve it is easy to slow spool for better control when needed. Have JT cooler fitted now and propose to try it again for comparison against Tillix/needle (back to back) soon.

Have just fitted 4" Air box and snorkel and after I get a better appreciation of performance with manual boost control will give positive pressure actuator (waste gate) a go again. Preliminary drive with upgrade to 4" induction with Tillix/needle is providing good results.
