Red face 1988 4.2D GQ Headlight replacement

I am just about to upgrade my factory headlights to 7'' LED. Does anyone know how to retrofit these? Do I have to remove the whole grill to get access? Thanks

IIRC the factory sealed beams are held in by 3 small screws and a retaining ring fully accessible from the front.. undo the screws and the retaining ring and light literally fall out... much easier with the grill out tho which takes all of a coupla minutes
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

Yeah mate, you have to remove the grill. The screws for the headlights are covered by the grille. At least on my 89 model they are. Do you have sealed headlight units or the unsealed ones you can pull the light out of? Also, depending on the connector on your new LED lights, you may have to put on a new connector for the loom.

There's also a spring on the bottom of the light housing holding them square.
