I'm about to install a Dawes and Needle Valve in my CRD. I'm just wondering if the connection from the needle valve to the vacuum pump is via the hard line at the front of the motor? I'm unsure if I should be running new line entirely to the pump or simply remove the existing vacuum line from the boost solenoid and put my new vacuum line straight on to the hard line?
Your vacuum take off is the" hard: steel stand pipe that is located at front of eng near alternator. Use existing vac line (if in good condition) from this stand pipe, leave plastic damper in place (if fitted) and run vac line to the needle valve via the "T" that goes to vac side of Dawes and to the turbo actuator diaphragm. Refer to the Chaz diagram attached (Single Stage TDi Dawes Manual Control System). Remember the Vac solenoid is to be isolated (blocked off)_refer Chaz doc and the poor photo attached (loop back first two ports and for the third just cut it off say 50mm length and put a screw in it(screw not shown).
