Aircon Issue part 2
Couple days ago I put up a post about having a busted arse air con.
They reckon all the electrical has burnt out, wiring, relays.. the ignition supply output from ecu failed etc etc.
The aircon repairs cannot be done without electrical repairs.
Basically the whole system including wiring needs to be repaired/replaced.
They quoted 2.5k to fix it all.
So my questions now are -
Since I want to add a second battery and a heap of 12v accessories like fridge, lights, compressor etc should I look at an auto sparky to go over the whole thing and what can I expect to happen with that, is it a matter of rewiring the whole vehicle or what?
If I was to consider an engine conversion would that make the wiring issue any easier or is it all the existing wiring that gets hooked up to new engine?
I was originally budgeting 10k to get this rig all good as a daily drive. If it wasnt such a sentimental vehicle to me I would set fire to the bloody thing.. big headache it is.

You could probably buy a complete rolling chassis less motor for around 2.5K. Get all the bits you need, and then some, sell off the rest and be done with it.

AS mentioned earlier, the patrol a/c kits were all fitted after market so the individual systems may be totally different. I cracked a line and found a guy locally who was wrecking a patrol, same year, and bought the part only to find the pipe size was different and slightly different shape, so if you go the donor vehicle route I would check that the entire system is intact as you may not be able to cross pollinate. I ended up going to an aircon guy and they cut and shut the lines for me, but frustrating process.

A/c was factory fitted. All the parts are listed in the Nissfast parts program... you can buy genuine Nissan a/c parts still if you want. As per chassis number. FWIW, the a/c pipes on my Patrol are from a TB45 GU. Some are interchangeable, just depends on the fitting at the pump and firewall.

Sorry, thought the vehicle was a GQ, which have the A/C fitted at the dealership, not the factory, or at least that's how mine arrived when I bought it new. In fact, when I went back to Ferntree Gully Nissan, they could not help and referred me to a local air con guy who does all their aircon fit outs
