Patrol Y60 GQ Headlights on when engine running

So, trying to figure out the lighting setup on the patrol so i can swap the headlights out for some Trucklite LED's.

In order of switching, with the engine off, I get sidelights, dipped beam and then full beam (as you would expect)

Engine running, I get sidelights and a dim dipped headlight together, then dipped beam and then full beam.

Any ideas what's going on? Is it meant to do that?
