Getting any engine warnings lights come on?

Does it only happen when towing the van?

Faulty O2 and/or crank angle sensors can cause this in a non towing situation.

    Hi mate,
If you have fitted a dawes and Needle Valve, and got read of the ECU control/ Solenoid, Limp mode can also be due to turbo pressure going a bit too high with the extra load/extra pressuve on the throttle, whilsrt the revs are too low. Turbo pressure going up means more air being swallowed by admission and therefore MAF going up...
A bad MAF-Revs couple of values, and you get the limp.

The op has a 4.8. Not the 3ltr bud...
As for the issue at hand. The first thing I would do is plug a scan tool in and see what codes come up and work from there.

Thanks guys for your input,we have towed this van for ten years with no problem's.This year removed LPG,fitted LR petrol tank,Beau desert exhaust with extractors, new 02 sensors.NOW we have LIMP problem's.The GU run's like a dream, without the VAN on.Drive 500k with Van on ,stop for fuel ''lots of it'' drive off bang into LIMP.Had codes checked, slow brake solenoid showed up. Very strange i think.?
