Misfuel
Hi all...so I had a bit of a misadventure...and as my wife won't let me forget is that none of it would have happened if I was not lazy...
ANYWAY...I ran out of fuel...which may or may not have been all my fault...
I called RACQ to get me off the highway and they put in 5L and tried to start it and then put in another 5L and couldn't get the car running.
All up had tried cranking the car for maybe a minute on and off.
After I wasn't starting they towed me to a servo and I put another 10L of diesel in and on and off cranked it for 5minutes.
Tried cracking the lines to get as much air out as possible to no avail.
I got my patrol towed to my work where I have a workshop and was told there was petrol in my car.
Turns out that the RACQ have put petrol in, and have admitted fault.
I have a 2005 GUIV Patrol with a 3.0L CRD engine.
25k on the engine, 275k on the body.
RACQ have basically given me a blank cheque to repair (as long as it's in line with a misfuel of course).
Now, I know quite likely the repair bill will include lines, filter/prefilter, fuel pump, injectors, etc.
My concern is that, if everything is repaired as needed, what are the chances that down the track, possibly off road and away from help, of issues resulting from this in the future.....?
Is there anything else I should be considering?
Thank you, Karl.

Patrol God
RACQ bloke is seeking a new job as I type this ...
All the work performed to remedy your case should be/will be warrantied mate.
After all is done / cleaned / replaced, and diesel is smoothly flowing through... I highly doubt you should have any scary monsters popping up in the long run due to contaminated fuel as by then, surely all the remnants of unleaded will be history.

Wot Hodge said... happens 100's of times a day all over Oz.
Daughter did it to my Ford Terry.
No biggee, take it Nissan, send bill to RACQ
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
