    No power to low beam

Just replaced the left hand side headlight (glass broken ) and don't have low beam ,headlight works if I test it or hot wire it on low .
Can only get about 4 volts from the wire that fires it up so my question is could it be a relay problem or something else I've missed .

Will check earth but high beam goes ok TD it's just the low beam one side and I'm thinking maybe relay or dodgy wire .
Have had past problems when switching to high beam all I had was drivers side ,just need to find relay that fires it up .

Not sure at this point but there is a relay that's on the other side that clicks in when I hot wire the light low beam so I'm going to start there ,I'm hoping they have a relay for left and one for right and if that's the case it's the relay but need to check the wiring diagram if I can find it .

There is no relay for the headlights on the GQ unless it has been fitted by an owner aftermarket.

Most common fault is stalk switch, second most common fault is bad earth.

Thanks ET , I was having trouble with no tail lights or dash lights because of the stalk so I'll double check that but looks like I have a relay fitted and it is a Nissan branded relay it's just wether or not it's the problem .
Or maybe there is some fault in between but when I put 12 volts to the lights low beam terminal the relay clicks on , I'll get a photo of the relay and where it is tomorrow.
Like I said the right one is ok have both high and low it's just the left one that has high beam not low beam and that relay may be for high beam just not sure why it would activate of the low beam terminal if hot wired .

    ... got cornering lamps?

The main reason the GQ stalks have so many issues was that, ex factory, they had no relays so the full current for the Headlights flowed thru the switch.

While you are farting around its a great idea to check the earth for high resistance at the lamp plug (both sides).
That is one of the main reasons for melted plugs.

Changing out/fitting relays and decent earths can almost double the illumination on the mighty GQ esp if you go semi-sealed and +150 bulbs (don't go high wattage bulbs without relays tho)

Thanks mate , I'll post a pic of the relay in question and it's a Nissan setup with four wires going into the loom ,when I put 12 volt to the low beam terminal this relay clicks over .
Unsure if they made some slight changes for my model being an auto Td 4.2 or not.
