zd30 crd squealing noise
Have done a search and taken the car in for a diagnosis which I got told is the manifold gasket (common issue) but another mate rekons it's the egr pipe leaking air (can feel it escaping when put hand under it). Basically makes a bit of a squeal on acceleration coming from the back of the engine on turbo side. Car still runs fine boosts fine etc. Only mods are egr block and 3 inch exhaust. Just want some more opinions as to which it's more likely to be, Mechanic I took it to knows his shit and I trust him just hate the thought of spending big dollars if it potentially won't fix my issue.

Sounds like exhaust manifold gasket to me, it is common and studs often break when being removed. Probably need manifold machined too.
Had mine done few weeks ago.

Cracked EGR pipe at back or motor between motor and firewall.
Very common issue on crd zd30s.

Second that. Dont even replace the pipe, just get a blanking plate off eBay to block off the exhaust side.

I went through hell pin pointing my squeal .
Went through 20 different intake hoses and clamps the whole time I was so sure it was somewhere along the boost pathways ...
But in the end it was a micro crack smack in the middle of the EGR pipe in the most c*** of spot singing it's annoying whistle when turbo spools up under load ...

Yeah car has an egr blanking plate installed but obciously not on the exhaust side. Yes mine is doing that annoying whistle when under load as well. Sounds very much like it will be the egr pipe, will mention that when I get it fixed.
