Looking for coil and shock replacement advice...

2000 GU Ute coil rear starting to sag a bit too much. Looking to get a 2" lift set of coils and shocks to replace with. What's the best value kit to buy? Not looking to spend a million, or settle for the cheapest crap on the market. Just decent quality for a good price.

Usage is mainly fishing, hunting and camping trips.

Cant go wrong with Old Man Emu mate. Gets my Vote for Touring and general Offroad. Bang for Buck they are the bench mark everyone else is set against. Its a big investment that is expected to last 200,000kms. I have 200,000kms on my OME and they are still great.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Looking for coil and shock replacement advice...

Old Man Emu both as MudrunnerTD kindly suggests are proven great! Also having top success so far with some beefy Koni 90 shocks on my heavy arse ute although 15-20mm travel apparently lost but we get by
EDIT: Don’t forget to aftermarket tower brace your coily mate, absolute must, and one of Nissan’s greatest cockups, dangerous!

General 4x4 use not hard core, IMO looking at the $$s available at the time, I have Dobinson HD 2" coils with Koni 88s and Polyair bag in rear that adjust for load/tow variations. Have an extra 120kg hanging off back (rear bar and stuff)/drawes etc. Does fine.

Have used OME in other vehicles and were good.

In GU have tried Lovells coils, IMO have too high a spring rate/hard for up front with 4cyl diesel, could be OK with 6cyl (extra wt), were not happy. Have used Bilstein B6 (re valved) and foam cells shocks but personally rather oil, especially for corrugation and certainly will give Koni big bores a run next time round. Some say Koni give too much bounce but not an issue with me. When I get around to it, might screw the rear shocks up a turn to observe any change.

I did not have the opportunity to ride in other similar vehicle set ups, would be a good idea as it may remove some doubt and might save you time/money in the long run.. Might do it myself one day would be good. And yes, need to brace those rear towers (me too).

Very happy with both brands, my utes got the ‘Superior’ coily full plate and family wagon has the ‘Boss’ 2 piece kit.

Tower Brace - reading with interest. Note the superior has load spreading rail beam (6mm steel plate) over top of towers $160. Suit GU Ute and wagon. Wagon needs at least 2" lift and maybe mod to exhaust. Looks good and Boss bolt in (one brace plate per side) @ $495. Recon would have to go superior. Am I missing something?
