TD42 N/A exhaust options?
Hey guys,
I've searched the forums and internet about this topic and was thinking about putting a Beaudesert 2.75" system on.
What are your thoughts about what size exhaust is good? Heard from 2.5" to 3" and know all about the back pressure debate.
Anyone notice a difference in performance and fuel economy? Would I need to tune ye ol' 10mm?
TIA Legends!
P.s. Please don't give me the spiel about 'get a turbo' etc., I'm only 20 and can afford to fork out 5g and don't really need it

i'm running a 2.5 inch extractors that are port matched and run into the original exhaust which is past due for replacement... i gained about what i lost going from 31's to 33's. it also opened up some more revs.
fuel economy... umm still about 11-12 per 100 didn't really change but i get there quicker.
i didn't change the pump but it might be possible to get a bit more but i don't think it would be worth the effort.
extractors the best 50 bucks i spent. ( it is a temporary measure until i get the T word) got em 2nd hand from a neighbour took a day to fit em, broken manifold stud gaskets weld to original exhaust etc.
if its worth doin its worth over doin

Thanks for the response.
Ill definitely be getting extractors, just trying to decide about the exhaust.
Heard good things about fuel economy, weighing up prices first.

G'day mate.i put the system you're looking at on mine a couple years ago.
I got the matching extractors too.
To be honest,i didnt like it.
Gave a bit better top end,but thats all.
It had a horid drone sound on highway too.
I've now got a turbo on and the 2.75 system is great on it,quiet as too.
I'd say get the system if you're planning on turboing it later, but wouldn't waste my money on extractors.
Good luck with it

Dad just bought a na td42 with extractors and a 3" exhaust, sounds awesome at 2000-2500 revs.
But like you said, the drone is horrendous!
I will be planning on turboing later down the track but that might be a year or two away!
Thanks!
