TD42 Thermostat housing bolt thread size?

I'm not sure of the pitch. It looks like 1.5 by eye.
I changed out the stat and the gasket was an aftermarket one and the holes in the gasket weren't exact apart and upon putting the bolts back in one went in on a slight angle. So now I have to find a tap and and run this down the thread to bring it back to life.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I think I will get away with running a tap down it. It only grabbed and turned maybe 1 1/2 turns before I stopped.
