Replaced the Radiator - GQ RB30

    Hi All,

I have tried searching but haven't found what I'm chasing.

This afternoon I replaced the Radiator on the GQ RB30. After taking it for a spin 15 minutes or so the temp gauge was at about a qtr on the gauge. Used to sit at just under half.

The Top Hose is hot to touch but the bottom hose is luke warm at best.

I can feel that the radiator core is hot and gets cooler as you get closer to the bottom hose as you would expect, I'm just concerned that the thermostat is playing up and the water isn't circulating properly? Should I be concerned?

Being that the temp gauge is situated at the cylinder head where the hot hose is I assume it should be fine?

Is there a way to bleed coolant down on the bottom hose where it goes into the thermostat? or is it just a matter of burping it..

Did you burp the system properly after filling it? It may take a long time to do so. These engines are prone to getting air locks. There is also a bleeding screw as shown in the picture. Undo it until you see small bubbles come out. It is a slow process, but leave a couple of threads in the hole or you will have the screw pop out and coolant will go everywhere. It might help to squeeze the top and bottom hoses a few times with the cap off.

Cheers Mudnut, Does sound like a airlock.

I'll spend some time on burping and bleeding the system tomorrow.
