Lack of power in my 2.8td
Hello guys!
New to patrols and just bought myself a GU 1999 2.8td that would not start..
Found a broken eng control 7.5 amp fuse and changed that, now it starts up and idles perfect.
Went for a testdrive and it lacks alot of power, u can hardly increase speed. (No engine light is lit)
Then I read about the problems with MAF on the patrols so I unplugged it and that does no difference, then tried changing it to one I borrowed from a friend from his working car... Still no difference (Also changed the fuelfilter just to be sure it is fine).
Now I have a couple of questions to u experienced patrollers
* Do I need to reset something when I change a MAF to get it running right again?
* What is the symptoms if the electric pump in the tank is faulty? (I am guessing it wont start at all)..
* Any other good tips what I should look at and test under the bonnet?
Regards
/Erik

Disconnect the Battery for about 2 Hours (This resets the ECU to Original)
Get some MAF Cleaner and clean the MAF making sure you do not touch the end of the MAF

Hello again!
Today I have measured the MAF and it puts out 0.12v at idle and revs, so I guess that it is fried. (Tried cleaning it, but the voltage is the same)
So I tried the one I borrowed from a friend and that one puts out 1.7v at idle and about 2.5v at 2500rpm, so that is right at where it is supposed to be.
The car acts the same with both MAFs, so I guess that there must be a problem with the wires or ECU, where is the ECU located?

Guessing I need to find the place where they have connected the power tuning box or whatever it should be called. I guess that is connected to maf signal and more stuff, so I am guessing a bad connection ther might be the problem..
Does anyone know where Nissan hid the ECU on these patrols? Also anybody know where to find a pin out on the ECU so I can measure there if the signal is okey??

Ever get this sorted mate? My 99 2.8 had same issue, just gutless all the time. New (used off gumtree) genuine maf and did the battery 2 hour trick and it was heaps better.
