hi
my names william and i though i would give a quick intro.
so about 2002 i owned and ground up rebuilt a 1983 mq swb patrol. i painted it bright orange and loved it for years til life got in the way and i need some extra cash and off loaded it. i have seen it for sale since but it has drop of my radar now so not sure where it ended up.
anyway fast forward to now and my dad has a hi roof long wheelbase diesel gq patrol and it goes great but is a bit big for him now and does need the rust cut out of the roof. so we started to look for a body to swap with his and make a nice car then we found a clean swb shell in vic for a good price so our body swap has now turned into build a swb diesel auto gq patrol. i am still waiting to get the car moved from vic to newcastle nsw so i can see what i'm working with but should be a good build. my plan is to strip it to the bare chassis paint chassis the build it back up with all new rubbers etc so dad will end up with a car that will last him for years to come.
so i will start a build thread for those interested this wont be a big dollar build but it will be done right. also thinking of film as i go along but we will seew how that goes.
so a bit about me too i guess i'm 37 live in newcastle with my wife and 6 year old son. my dad live in a granny flat in the backyard. i'm a polywelder have done this for the past 18 years. basically a boiler maker that works in plastic. i do everything from pipelines to fabricate of tanks.
i have a list of car i have done over the years these include landrovers, minis, ford escorts.
i have been looking for a new project of late and dad wanting to do this has give me something to tackle. he is hope just a quick build to get it going but i told him i'm building it right so may take a little longer.
anyway there is lots of great info here and i may has some questions if i cant find what i need.
william

Patrol Freak
Hello and welcome to the forum
As I lay there looking up, taking in the spectacular view that was the night sky and the multitude of stars I asked myself, where did my tent go?
