    Altenator and warning light prob

    Hey all,

My altenator is not puting out a charge, i get that i need a new altenator BUT, not all of my warning lights on the gu are working.

No alt light at all with ignition on and/or car running.

Some othe warning lights are not working either.

Do ou think its because the alt is catus this interferring with the warning lights

    2003 gu patrol 4.2 diesel

I have ordered a new altenator.

    Cheers

    Phil.

Dead & dying alternators can do weird things to dash lights. Before you throw your old alternator away, check it's brushes & their holders. They may just be worn out or the holders broken.

Could be that the charge indicator globe has blown. It is an integral part of the charging system.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Almost certainly, Yes... fix the Alt circuit first (as planned) and work from there.
99% of the time that will sort out the other warning circuits as well.

Always good to get follow up's on questions - thanks Rex.

Have you checked out the old alternator to see what had failed?
