    Hello from South Australia

Hey all, I recently purchased a 2004 GUiii Auto With 350,000 on the clock. It has the ZD30 engine which upon further investigation from this forum, I found out may be a 'grenade'. I'm joining up to see what the best mods and tips are to make my engine last and hopefully get some good off-roading out of it!
    Cheers!

    Welcome Ali,

There are some that will give you problems, but the problems diminish fairly quickly from 2003 onwards, and it seems to be less of an issue, but not completely gone, the later they get.

I personally know of quite a few that are from the notorious 2000 model to 2003 that are now up around 400,000 klms and still going strong, so it seems to be a bit of a lottery.

The good news, is that I wouldn't exactly call your truck with 350,000 Klms on it a grenade, especially if everything is all factory still, and when they seem to get past 100,000 - 150,000 then the likely hood of the grenade issue seems to be lower still. The main problem seems to be cracked heads or failing injector pumps, the longer those ones go on.

350k on the clock hardly a grenade specimen. But being a 4.2 diesel owner I dont know the ins and outs of the 3 litre. Maybe some precautionary things to do but if its at 350k then thats probably a goodun?

What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal??

Cheers HappyGu, eased my mind immensely.
