    Belts

    Hi gurus
I have just brought new belts (alt, aircon and pwr steer) using the numbers I got from an old thread ( thanks Cuppa) but now I’ve inspected the old ones, I’ve found them to be solid ( internal surface of belt a flat smooth surface), whereas the new belts are ‘toothed’ so:
Are toothed( little V’s) belts interchangeable with the single surface ‘solid’ internal surfaced belts? I am changing the belts before heading up the Kimberley’s in a couple of weeks.
    Thanks

Toothed or grooved ,if it's a V belt that's the way some make them but if it's a flat with teeth for a V pulley it's not the right belt .

A vee belt of the same size be it toothed or smooth will perform well. The cogged belt config gives the belt greater flexibility and is designed to go around smaller pulleys.

    Cheers guys
New belts fitted ( after mandatory trip back into town ‘cos one was too long) took 1 1/2 hours but next time would be heaps quicker as I now know the job.
    Thanks for the info.
