Cool Have some questiins about the Patrol

    G'day Patrol friends,

I,ve joind u cause I've not much experience with the Nissan Patrol.

I want to buy a Patrol from a friend and maybe u could help me with a few questions
And sorry for my english, its not the best but i hope u will understand me

    The Typ is:
Nissan Patrol ST Modell 2000, Y61
    Type: TESY61
    Engine: ZD30(DDTi) 3.0 4c direct diesel
    km:176'000
    2wd/4x4 h and lr
He is the second owner, service book all good every 6 month service, never real 4x4 just sand (Fraser), not one spot rost or damage, inside like new.
comes with lift up, snorkel, winch, bull and tow bar, dual battery system, heavy duty clutch, cb and uhf, Engel fridge/freezer, Rhino Rack, Awing, cruise control, 220v Inverter, Tv, rost protector, and lot more of extras.

    So Now my questions.

    - Has this car in low range difflock?
    - Is that car mechanic a good car, is it reliable?
    - Is it a good idea to chip the car? Bit more hp and torgue.
    - Are there other good tuning options?
    - Are there some particular things I have to check?
    - He told me the dual batterie is just for second start batterie, is that true? Should that not be for provide power for thungs like fridge, inverter?
    - Is 12 grant a good price for that model with all those extras?
    - At which km you should change the timebelt?
    - Is that normal that it feels like the accelaration is not that strong? (drove a Hilux before)

I hope that are not too many questions

    Cheers

    Oli

In my opinion if it's a slug there's something wrong probably just MAF sensor maybe something simple but Nissan had problems with these earlier models up to 2003 with motors shitting themselves .
Dual batteries are normally one crank one for auxiliaries separated by a solenoid so if voltage drops too low the solenoid cuts power from draining the crank battery ,if it's been setup without a dual battery solenoid you run the risk of both batteries running flat .
As for price possibly a bit on the high side for a 3 litre of that vintage , there are many options out there for you and if you're thinking about that sort of money there are some great GQ's with a few mods around for that price and a few of them have the 4.2TD and are much easier to work on .

Given the extras it looks like a good price but personally you can't know the condition of the motor , most don't have diff locks unless fitted aftermarket the rear diff side have amazing limited slip so normally only need a lock on front .

Have a read up on NADS for your motor, chips are great IMO, also buy an ECU-talk
lets you know a few things going on under the bonnet,
Dont know what dual battery system you have so cant comment.
Dissconect the main Battery and clean the Maf wait 1/2hr or so then reconnect
    make sure MAF is dry
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there
