Exhaust or ECU Remap for 3.0L patrol

    Hey guys,

Looking for some guidance on what to do for my 3.0L CRD.
What would your suggestions be about my next modification, i want to get one or the other and theyre about the same price, but not sure what would have more benefit on its own?

    cheers guys

    This is a tough one....

I would say exhaust, as it gets you some gains as well as dropping / keeping engine combustion temps under control.

First buy a Scan-gauge , then maybe a Beaudesert 2.75 exhaust. they seem to work very well on the CRD
Block the EGR, I hear they drill a 8mm hole in them to trick the ECU
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

I am going through the same deliberations but have started with fitting a $500 Playtime Auto 3" with cat no muffler. Performance wise it definitely spools up quicker and gives you a bit more off the mark. Top end not as noticeable but did hold 100km/hr up a couple of big hill towing the boat where it used to lose speed.
If I had my time again I would get the muffler too as does drone a bit around 2500rpm.
I intend to block EGR next myself and have Dawes and needle valves to fit but have not worked out how to fit them yet.

What engine mods to date mate (NADS/Manual boost control, I/C etc)?

Been down this track and have just installed stage 3 h/f turbo. Must do exhaust before remap as you will need to evacuate exhaust gases more freely, especially with ecu remap, With remap, IMHO recommend an upgrade to your induction (if still stock), or you will be working your turbo on the hard side. Good to do anyway. Priorities $ driven. Can advise on progressive result against mod stages.

Do your exhaust first and also recommend install of full NADS/good Boost&EGT gauges. EGR plate, IMO both ends(remap or not), solid plate easy to clear fault with scan tool.
