    Wheel nut indicators

    I know wheel nut indicators have been used in trucks forever. Some new utes like the new budget Hilux versions with black steel rims come fitted with the indicators standard. Also seen them on a bunch of new D Max's.
    Lately I've seen a few wagon 4x4s with black steelies and fitted with the yellow indicators.
    Just before I seen a Y61 patrol with shiny new black rims and muddies and also has the indicators fitted. I never used to see them on ordinary patrols.

    I'm now wondering is there a new rule or something that the indicators are becoming mandatory on some vehicles / rims fitted?
    Does anybody know anything about this.

    Wheel nut indicators

    Nissan recalled a heap of patrols to fit the indicators, Their idea of stopping the wheels coming off... or should I say their way around to blame someone else...

    Haven’t seen any other 4bies with them tho

    The Service Campaign was early last year IIRC

    If you had factory alloys, Nissan would check the Torque of the wheel nuts and fit 3 indicators per wheel, again IIRC.

    Steelies were not an issue

    Yeah the Nissan Service campaign didnt fit the big Yellow arrow indicators though i think they had Nut Caps that had the word NISSAN printed on them and you fitted them over the studs and could look at a glance and see if they were out of alignment.

    I like the fully sik yellow look!

    I knew about the Nissan recall and fitting their shitty plastic ones ...
    I'm talking about the big yellow ones. Like the photo below. The patrol I saw had steelies with exactly like these. As did a M-ux and a 200 cruiser.
    I thought maybe there is a stupid new rule that some steel wheels now have to have them fitted or something ...

    I took the cheapskate route - used a white out pen on the end of each nut. It stays on & remains visible, & is easily taken off with a wire brush if the nuts are ever undone. Haven't had one move yet though.
