Oil leak behind upper fan belt 2001 4.5l ST GU II

    Hey guys

My patrol seems to have a slow oil leak, looks and smells like engine oil.

1/2 drips to a small paddle over night after being driven

I cleaned it up today and it’s definitely coming from up front behind the fan belts, can’t tell if it’s a gasket or what not

I’ll let the photos do the talking

Looks like front crankshaft oil seal. Common on the 4.5 and not hard to do.

Thanks for the reply mate, that makes sense would it be something I could do myself or would it be best taking it into a mechanic?

Hard to answer as I have no idea of your mechanical skills. Generally, you should know yourself what you’re capable of doing and how well equipped you are with tools.
