Zd30 lack of power
Hey fellas,
Recently bought a 2000 zd30 gu, and its a bloody slug.
Maxs out on a flat road at about 110, flat to the floor. Going up hills slows back down to 70-80 on the highway.
When i first got it home, was having a look and there was no air filter, so purchased one, and cleaned the maf, but its still bloody gutless.
Sometimes itll boost to about 16-18psi, others it wont go over 5 until you restart the car.
Just wondering what you fellas would suggest doing, cheers.

Legendary
Start by trying another maf sensor that's known to be good ,replace fuel filter is where I'd start .

Legendary
Sounds like limp mode ..... disconnect the battery for 30 min to clear any codes and try again.
I would install a new MAF, as who knows what has been going on with no air filter

Missing in Action
Sounds like it is in "Limp Mode". Mine was doing the same thing, no guts over 2500 RPM. Mine was caused by a faulty wire to the MAF sensor. The wire was damaged weeks earlier when a fan belt failed damaging the wires under the air intake, might be worth taking a look at them. If wires are OK then it is probably the sensor itself.

Does the engine have manual boost control fitted (Dawes-Tillix / Needle)?
Any other mods to engine that you can see apart from running air filter delete.
The motor sounds like it has been neglected so first do your oil/fuel filters and change your oil out (if not yet done).

Already done the oil & filter. Just waiting until next week before i can do the fuel filter. Will try disconnecting the battery and see how i go there.
Also, which wires on the maf am i to check? On the connection that plugs into maf? Sorry, completely unexperienced in zd30s

Hey boys, took into a mechanic today. Fault code was regarding the maf sensor, and apparently it was just not working at all. Got a new one im putting in in the morning, and they mentioned something about remapping the ecu. How do i go about that?

Disconnect the battery for 30 minutes.
That forces the ECU to relearn its parameters for the factory map.
If you want a different map entirely then that means hooking up a PC or changing chips which means forking out $'s
