Ti 1998 Drivers seat belt wet

I have a 1998 TI Patrol which is parked outside. The drivers side seat belt is wet after it has rained and I cannot figure out where the water is coming from. It is wet at the lower part of the cavity where it is retracted to. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks John

Hi Threedogs thanks for your reply. Not sure what you mean as an intro but to answer your questions I do not have any rust I can see and the door rubbers are in excellent condition.
I presume the B pillar is where the seat belt is located and although I have not taken off the inside trim yet I cannot see where it is possible for the water to get into the pillar.
I do not want to break the plastic trim and do not know how much pressure I should use to get it off.
I am 76 years old, had the Patrol from new and I am not a mechanic but not rich and would like to fix myself if possible. Regards John

intro is an introduction someone will point you in the right direction.
If it had a roofrack it may have rust in the gutters causing a hole.

Being a TI luxury model. Do you have rear aircon?
Could be the aircon line getting wet through condensation.

and I agree with you that it would be a good idea to check the gutters for rust/pinholes as Roof Rack feet are often over the B pillar and a possible point of water entry

Hi Evil Twin I have had a look at the gutter all is OK, I have never had a roof rack. This only happens after it has rained even if I have not driven the car.
Got me totally bamboozled.

Are there any roof perforations at all?
Old Radio Antennas or whatever?

As the much beloved insurance industry likes to say "water either comes up or drains down".
To get high enough for the retractor there would be a fair bit in there if it is rising.

You might have to pull the trim off and investigate further.
The trim can be pretty obstinate to remove.
